Who We Are

We are a membership association made up of the executive directors and CEOs of the leading and largest alumni organizations supporting major private, public and land-grant institutions of higher education in the US and Canada. CAAE members include professionals with extensive and senior-level administrative experience in not-for-profit organizational membership, higher education administration, program development and implementation, consulting, financial management, communications and marketing.

What We Do

We conduct research and gather best practices on alumni-engagement metrics, young-alumni program strategies, integrated marketing, affinity community involvement, the intersection of alumni engagement and philanthropy, and other emerging issues and trends.

We convene two annual institutes for members – one in February and the other in July. The institutes provide our members with an opportunity to reflect on and engage in conversations around the major opportunities and challenges facing the profession.

We offer annual fellowships to encourage rising stars within the profession. The Forman, Tardy and Preo Fellowships support research and professional development for new and mid-level professionals to help grow their talents as future thought-leaders in the industry.

Vision and Mission

We strive to be the leader in cultivating, supporting and promoting best practices, innovations, and investment in alumni engagement while also advocating for a strong alumni voice for the benefit of alumni, their universities, and society by convening and engaging chief alumni officers representing the world’s leading research universities.

Our vision, mission and mutual value proposition

Board of Directors

We are governed by a board of directors representing a cross-section of the membership. Our board meets three times a year to set policy, develop and monitor the annual budget, oversee organizational resources, and ensure sound operation of the association.
